Irvine is turning 50, and Irvinites are ready to celebrate! In honor of city’s founding in 1971, Irvine is throwing an epic bash. The Studio 50 Dance Party at Great Park will commemorate Irvine’s 50th birthday. Scheduled for Saturday, August 28, from 6–9:30 p.m, this event is free and open to all ages.

“The importance of community has always been an integral focus of our great master-planned City as we’ve grown over the past five decades,” says Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “I am excited to honor Irvine’s 50th anniversary by inviting the public to this family-friendly, ‘70s-themed dance party paying tribute to the year Irvine was incorporated. I look forward to enjoying a perfect summer evening at Great Park while bringing the community together to celebrate our extraordinary city in this fun and lively way.”

Put on your best disco-era attire and come groove to the sounds of the ‘70s. The party starts with a live DJ at 6 p.m. and continues with a seventies-inspired set from Southland Mega Groove, starting at 7:45 p.m. A dance floor in front of Hangar 244 will be surrounded by ‘70s décor and photo backdrops.

Dinner will be available for purchase from a variety of food trucks including The Empanada Maker, Kabobaholic, and Drizzle. Picnic areas will also be available near the dance floor for those who wish to bring their own meal. Remember your chairs and enjoy the music! No registration is required for this event.

Great Park is located at 8000 Great Park Blvd., Irvine. For more information, visit cityofirvine.org/50th or call 949-724-6247.
