Is it time to draw the line?
Irvine is pursuing a shift in how Irvinites vote for their representatives. Currently, we vote for all four City Councilmembers and Irvine’s Mayor in at-large elections.
The city is considering a switch to by-district voting, where each resident only votes for the City Councilmember that represents his/her/their district.
Irvine will hold a special election on March 5, 2024 to determine if we should switch from at-large to by-district voting, and whether to expand the City Council to six members.
